Implementing the Clean Air Federal Project Together with JSC SKTB Katalizator

Group of companies JSC SKTB Katalizator is successfully performing engineering activities on greening the gas and coal-fired power generation. The priority pilot projects include boiler plants of Novosibirsk, Saint Petersburgh, Novokuznetsk and Kyzyl.

At present, environmental issues play an increasingly important role. The Clean Air Federal Project has been launched within the framework of the Ecology National Project to address environmental challenges. According to the passport of the Federal Project, it is envisaged to reduce the number of cities with high and very high levels of air pollution to zero, and to reduce the gross emission of pollutants into the atmosphere by 22% by 2024.

The problem is that existing thermal power plants in Russia use mainly boilers designed and constructed decades ago. At the time, the major task of engineers and operational staff was to ensure efficient fuel combustion meaning high efficiency, low losses, long-term failure-free operation. The environmental issue was left unaddressed. This has contributed to the fact that these days the power generation accounts for about 14% of total air emissions.

Nowadays, in addition to high efficiency and fail-safety, new requirements are defined for equipment. Specifically, one of the basic components of a thermal power plant - a boiler plant - is subject to more stringent requirements regulating the permissible emissions of combustion products of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels, such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, benzopyrene, etc.
