Solutions of Katalizator JSC for Urban and Industrial Ecology - the Way to the Best Available Techniques
In 2014, the Russian industrial and environmental policy underwent a major change –it was decided to switch the current system of environmental regulation for most industries tothe Best Available Techniques (BAT).
The second stage of implementing transition of Russian industry to BAT (2018-2025) will include the following:
· finalization of the system for issuing, monitoring, inspecting and evaluating the effectiveness of environmental permits
· issuance of the first integrated environmental permits
Katalizator JSC has over 20 years’ experience in commercial production of catalyst systems for a variety of applications, including the systems which are resistant to some of the catalytic poisons. As is well known, noblemetal-based catalysts tend to deactivate relatively quickly, thus decreasing the efficiency of purification. Katalizator JSC catalyst systems are characterized by the absence of precious metals in their composition.
The catalysts for deep oxidation include ICT-12-8, ИCТ-12-40, АОК-78-52, the winners of the All-Russian Competition “100 Best Goods of Russia-2018”.
Above catalysts are designed to remove such unwanted volatile organic compounds as, e.g., toluene, xylene, phenol, ethanol, acetone, white spirit, heptane, formaldehyde etc., as well as carbon monoxide from gas emissions for the following industrial applications: paint-and-varnish industry, synthetic fibers, plastics, plasticizers, electrical products, steel industry, petrochemistry and oil refining, vent emissions from painting and drying shops, laminated chip board products and others.
Today, the Chemical Engineering Department of Katalizator JSC provides comprehensive solutions for handling environmental challenges from inspecting the emission points and development of recovery solutions to manufacturing, installation and start-up stages of catalytic treatment units using proprietary technologies of Katalizator JSC.
The solution for gas emissions treatment for town-forming industries is reported in the List of BAT Reference Documents (hereinafter: BREF) which were elaborated on the basis of the Russian Federation Government Instruction no. 2178-r of the 31 October 2014, namely:
- BREF 2 Production of ammonia, mineral fertilizers and inorganic acids
- BREF 3 Manufacture of copper
- BREF 9 Neutralization waste thermal processes (waste incineration)
- BREF 18 Production of basic organic chemicals
-BREF 38 Fuel combustion on large plants for production of energy
- BREF 41 Intensive rearing of pigs
- BREF 42 Intensive rearing of poultry
- BREF 50 Processing of natural and accompanying gas
