Methyl mercaptan synthesis

Catalyst is designed for methyl mercaptan synthesis from dimethyl sulfide and hydrogen sulfide. Shared use with ICT-31-1 catalyst for methionine chemical synthesis. More than 30 years of application of the product.

Application

Catalyst ICT-32-1 is used as a fixed bed. The catalyst accelerates the reaction of converting the by–product of the main process of methionine synthesis - dimethyl sulfide into the target methyl mercaptan:

 

(CH3)2S + H2S →2CH3SH

 

The conversion of dimethyl sulfide is carried out in excess of hydrogen sulfide on the catalyst ICT-32-1. The process temperature range is 280-450°С.
