Oxidation of hydrogen sulfide

Catalytic units provide testing the activity of catalysts for selective oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur (Claus process), expressed as percentage of H2S conversion or sulfur recovery efficiency. Initial catalytic activity is tested in a flow reactor under isothermal conditions at atmospheric pressure over industrial pellet.

Catalyst tests for the following processes are available:

- Claus catalyst activity testing in a mixture of complex composition, including organosulfur compounds. The research can be carried out in the conditions of the first and/or second Claus convertors.

- Assessment of the effect of catalyst sulfating on the decrease of initial catalytic activity. Assessment of the catalyst's resistance to a reaction medium containing a significant excess of oxidants (oxygen and sulfur dioxide) is necessary to predict the effective service life of the catalyst.

- Assessment of the resistance to deactivation of the catalysts of the Claus process in the presence of various hydrocarbons.

- Assessment of the stability of the catalysts of the Claus process to decontamination under conditions of hydrothermal aging at temperatures up to 600оС.

The acquired data enable to determine the loading and optimal process conditions for catalyst commercial application.
